Concept note-1: -America’s response to World War II was the most extraordinary mobilization of an idle economy in the history of the world. During the war 17 million new civilian jobs were created, industrial productivity increased by 96 percent, and corporate profits after taxes doubled.

Concept note-2: -Mobilizing the economy for world war finally cured the depression. Millions of men and women joined the armed forces, and even larger numbers went to work in well-paying defense jobs.

Concept note-3: -The Great Depression was a worldwide economic depression that lasted 10 years. GDP during the Great Depression fell by nearly half. A combination of the New Deal and World War II lifted the U.S. out of the Depression.
