EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -The Treaty restricted the Germans’ armed forces to only 100, 000 men in the army, no submarines or aeroplanes, and only six battleships. In addition, conscription was banned (soldiers had to be volunteers).

Concept note-2: -Article 198 prohibited Germany from having an air force, including naval air forces, and required Germany to hand over all aerial related materials. In conjunction, Germany was forbidden to manufacture or import aircraft or related material for a period of six months following the signing of the treaty.

Concept note-3: -Vorläufige Reichsmarine The provisions of the Treaty of Versailles restricted the German Navy to 15, 000 men and no submarines, while the fleet was limited to six pre-dreadnought battleships, six light cruisers, twelve destroyers, and twelve torpedo boats.

Concept note-4: -Germany was not allowed to have submarines or an air force. It could have an army of only 100, 000 men and a navy of only 6 ships, and it was not allowed to place any troops in the Rhineland. Germany had to pay £6, 600 million ‘reparations’ for damage done. Germany lost land.

Concept note-5: -The terms of the treaty required that Germany pay financial reparations, disarm, lose territory, and give up all of its overseas colonies. It also called for the creation of the League of Nations, an institution that President Woodrow Wilson strongly supported and had originally outlined in his Fourteen Points address.
