EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -Its aims were too ambitious. Self-interest by the members of the League. The economic sanctions did not work and also the league was very slow on making decisions. The League of Nations was strongly weakened by the absence of United States of America, Germany and USSR.

Concept note-2: -Called the League of Nations, the organization strove to promote world peace, solve conflicts without military force, and ensure global welfare. The idea was to not repeat the mistakes of World War I and to prevent another World War.

Concept note-3: -Why did the League of Nations fail? There had to be unanimity for decisions that were taken. Unanimity made it really hard for the League to do anything. The League suffered big time from the absence of major powers-Germany, Japan, Italy ultimately left-and the lack of U.S. participation.

Concept note-4: -It failed to achieve its aims because of a number of serious weaknesses in its organisation and membership. The League suffered the blow when USA refused to join the League because of its isolationist policy after the First World War.
