Concept note-1: -The Constitution gives to the Senate the sole power to approve, by a two-thirds vote, treaties negotiated by the executive branch.
Concept note-2: -Under Article II, section II of the Constitution, the Senate must advice and consent to ratification of treaties that have been negotiated and agreed to by the president.
Concept note-3: -The Constitution’s framers gave the Senate a share of the treaty-making power in order to give the president the benefit of the Senate’s advice and counsel, to check presidential power, and to safeguard the sovereignty of the states by giving each state an equal vote in the treaty-making process.
