EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -There were nevertheless some shared components between Wilson’s 14 Points and the Treaty of Versailles. Namely, both called for a reduction of armed forces in Germany. German soldiers would also be removed from its territories, while any territories which were taken from France would be returned.

Concept note-2: -The Germans, who had put great faith in U.S. President Woodrow Wilson’s notion of a so-called peace without victory and had pointed to his famous Fourteen Points as the basis upon which they sought peace in November 1918, were greatly angered and disillusioned by the treaty.

Concept note-3: -In 1918, President Woodrow Wilson outlined his “Fourteen Points” as a roadmap for post-World War I peace. Among his key proposals were open diplomacy, freedom of the seas, arms reduction, self-determination for ethnic groups, and the creation of a League of Nations to help prevent future conflicts.

Concept note-4: -In the speech, Wilson directly addressed what he perceived as the causes for the world war by calling for the abolition of secret treaties, a reduction in armaments, an adjustment in colonial claims in the interests of both native peoples and colonists, and freedom of the seas.
