Concept note-1: -German territorial losses resulting from the Treaty of Versailles, by modern country. The Treaty of Versailles reduced Germany’s territory in Europe by approximately 13 percent, and stripped Germany of all its overseas territories and colonies.

Concept note-2: -The document stripped Germany of 13 percent of its territory and one tenth of its population. The Rhineland was occupied and demilitarized, and German colonies were taken over by the new League of Nations. The German army was diminished to 100, 000 men and the country was forbidden to draft soldiers.

Concept note-3: -The treaty was lengthy, and ultimately did not satisfy any nation. The Versailles Treaty forced Germany to give up territory to Belgium, Czechoslovakia and Poland, return Alsace and Lorraine to France and cede all of its overseas colonies in China, Pacific and Africa to the Allied nations.

Concept note-4: -The Treaty of Versailles was a peace document signed between Imperial Germany and the Allied Powers on 28th June 1919. The treaty ended the state of war that had existed between Germany and the Allies from 1914 and brought World War I to an end.

Concept note-5: -The loss of all of this territory also meant that Germany’s industrial and agricultural output was drastically affected, particularly iron output, of which Germany lost 48%.
