TREATY OF VERSAILLES

[SOURCES]
Why did millions of people in Europe reject the idea that there could be peace without victory?

(A) ** They wanted vengeance against Germany and demanded that Germany pay for its actions.

(B) They wanted to continue the war and completely destroy the Central Powers.

(C) They wanted to pretend that the war had not even occurred so everything could go back to the way it was before the war.

(D) They believed the Allied Powers were wrong and wanted to pay back Germany for all the warfare.

Concept note-2: -It is widely agreed that the Treaty of Versailles failed because it was filled with harsh punishment and unrealistic expectations of massive reparations payments and demilitarization imposed on Germany for its wrongdoing.

Concept note-3: -He argued that the fighting in Europe should end with a “peace without victory.” Wilson explained that “victory” meant a peace forced on the losers who would surely harbor resentments leading to yet another war.
