Concept note-1: -The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law twelve years ago, on March 23, 2010. In the years since, the United States has seen remarkable progress in access to affordable health coverage and health care. Before the law was passed, around 18 percent of the population-more than 46.5 million people-were uninsured.
Concept note-2: -The ACA significantly changed the healthcare system in the U.S. by reducing the amount individuals and families paid in uncompensated care. The act requires every American to have health insurance and provides assistance to those who cannot afford a plan.
Concept note-3: -Answer. The ACA’s primary goal was to slow the rising cost of health care by taking steps to make health insurance more available and more affordable to those who need it the most. The act also required everyone to carry health insurance or pay a tax penalty.
