Concept note-1: -Honolulu, capital and principal port of Hawaii, U.S., seat of Honolulu county. A modern city, it extends about 10 miles (16 km) along the southeastern shore of Oahu Island and 4 miles (6 km) inland across a plain into the foothills of the Koolau Range.

Concept note-2: -The Hawaiian Islands were formed by volcanic activity. The Hawaiian Emperor seamount chain is a well-known example of a large seamount and island chain created by hot-spot volcanism. Each island or submerged seamount in the chain is successively older toward the northwest.

Concept note-3: -One can find Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Honolulu is Hawaii’s largest city. It is also the State of Hawaii’s capital. Honolulu covers an area from the southeast end of Oahu, south of the Ko’olau Mountain Range, to the east end of Pearl Harbor.
