Concept note-1: -The election for President of the United States occurs every four years on Election Day, held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The fifty-ninth United States’ Presidential Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020.

Concept note-2: -On April 30, 1789, George Washington, standing on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York, took his oath of office as the first President of the United States.

Concept note-3: -On September 13, 1788, the Confederation Congress passed an election ordinance, which set the date for choosing electors (January 7, 1789), electing the president (February 4, 1789), and beginning the new government under the Constitution (March 4, 1789).

Concept note-4: -A total of 538 electors form the Electoral College. Each elector casts one vote following the general election. The candidate who gets 270 votes or more wins. The newly elected President and Vice President are then inaugurated on January 20th.
