EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -The (absolute) majority is sometimes referred to as a “simple” majority, compared to a supermajority (a majority requirement above 50%, like a 2/3 requirement), however use of this term is inconsistent as it sometimes refers to a mere plurality (as opposed to an absolute majority).

Concept note-2: -Section 33 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 already empowers the Central Government to prescribe the form of nomination papers to be filed by the candidates to elections to the Union Legislature or the State Legislatures.

Concept note-3: -According to Sec. 64 of the R. P. Act, 1951, votes are counted by or under the supervision / direction of the Returning Officer of the Constituency.
