Concept note-1: -Essential health benefits are the medical services that must be covered under any Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace plan. The 10 essential health benefits include preventive care, emergency services, hospitalization, prescription drugs, mental health services, and pregnancy care.

Concept note-2: -Health insurance is not mandatory at the federal level. Some states may impose a tax penalty if you do not have health insurance, but the federal government no longer does that. This changed at the start of 2019.
