Question [CLICK ON ANY CHOICE TO KNOW THE RIGHT ANSWER]
What are the most common skin problems associated with Mickey G-tubes?
A
Granulation, Drainage, and Redness
B
Drainage, Granulation, and Itchiness
C
Redness, Itchiness, and Infection
D
Redness, Drainage, and Infection
Explanation:

Detailed explanation-1: -Granulation tissue-new tissue (appearing red/pink, “beefy”, moist and bumpy) that forms around the G-tube site. It may bleed or have yellow, mucous-like drainage. Granulation tissue is NOT an emergency.

Detailed explanation-2: -Granulation Tissue Formation Granulation tissue is an overgrowth of capillaries and looks red, raw and “beefy.” It may cause pain as the skin breaks down around the site. This is a very common problem with G-tubes. Some treatments are painful, especially with the use of silver nitrate.

Detailed explanation-3: -Moisture and acidic stomach fluids can cause the skin to be red and irritated. If this occurs, clean the skin with water several times each day. The area will have to be cleaned more often if drainage increases. Gently dry the skin after cleaning.

Detailed explanation-4: -Wash your hands with soap and water before and after care. Remove old dressing (if dressing is being used). Wash skin around the tube with soap and warm water. A dressing may be used around the G-tube site as instructed by your care team. More items
