Question [CLICK ON ANY CHOICE TO KNOW THE RIGHT ANSWER]
By listening, tapping and checking Permitos we cannot differentiate between:
A
Pneumonia and complete collapse of a lung
B
Air chest and pleural effusion
C
Pleural effusion and whole lung effusion
D
Air chest and emptying of a whole lung
Explanation:

Detailed explanation-1: -The typical method for diagnosing pleural effusion is by examining the patient with a stethoscope during a physical exam and then requesting a chest X-ray. Listening with a stethoscope provides some clues, and in order for X-ray changes to show, there has to be a significant volume of fluid.

Detailed explanation-2: -Normally there is a small amount of fluid in the pleural space, but a buildup of excess fluid, known as pleural effusion, may occur due to infection, inflammation, heart failure, or cancer. A large amount of fluid in the pleural space can also make it difficult to breathe and cause pain.

Detailed explanation-3: -Auscultation over a pleural effusion will produce a very muffled sound. If, however, you listen carefully to the region on top of the effusion, you may hear sounds suggestive of consolidation, originating from lung which is compressed by the fluid pushing up from below.

Detailed explanation-4: -Chest X-ray. Standard posteroanterior and lateral chest radiography remains the most important technique for initial diagnosis of pleural effusion.
