EXPLANATIONS BELOW
Concept note-1: -"For imposing taxes on us without our consent.” The basic grievance of Parliament asserting that they had the right to tax the colonies in any way they desired, and the colonists insisting that in the case of internal taxes, only legislative entities that they had representation in could enact internal taxes.
Concept note-2: -Grievance 1 "He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.” The Colonial assemblies passed various legislation, including ones on governing their slaves, creating colonial currencies, and requesting representatives to be sent to the British Parliament.
Concept note-3: -NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION! That is the battle cry of Grievance 17 from the Declaration of Independence. Perhaps the most popular grievance of all, number 17 ensures that all tax-paying Americans have representatives to speak for them in their government.
