Why does Lincoln not use Confederacy, Union, North, & South in his speech

(A) ** To show that they are all together in this fight

(B) To not give credit to the opposition

(C) To keep his speech nice and short

EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -Lincoln wanted peace for the Union. He did not want to punish and alienate those who had fought for the south, because he did not want them to rebel again.

Concept note-2: -“The Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves only in those states under Confederate control, ” he says. “It didn’t affect slavery in the North.” The reason is that, contrary to popular belief, Lincoln’s primary motivation wasn’t to free the slaves but to win the Civil War and reunite the Republic.

Concept note-3: -“I believe this Government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved-I do not expect the house to fall-but I do expect it will cease to be divided.”
