Concept note-1: -President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg address is one of the most famous speeches ever given. It is stunning in its brevity: ten sentences-272 words-and delivered in just over two minutes… few have said more with less. Lincoln delivered the address on November 19, 1863.

Concept note-2: -Lincoln’s speech lasted only two minutes, and contained only 272 words; one of the other speakers at the event, Edward Everett, spoke for two hours.

Concept note-3: -The Historic Gettysburg Address Lincoln then rose to the podium and addressed the crowd of some 15, 000 people. He spoke for less than two minutes, and the entire speech was fewer than 275 words long.

Concept note-4: -Lincoln’s address lasted somewhat more than a minute. He used only ten sentences, 267 words. Although it was not a poem, he used poetic devices to increase the power of his words.
