Concept note-1: -After four bloody years of conflict, the United States defeated the Confederate States. In the end, the states that were in rebellion were readmitted to the United States, and the institution of slavery was abolished nation-wide.
Concept note-2: -Answer and Explanation: The South, also known as the Confederacy, won 10 of the 23 major battles throughout the 4 years of the war from 1861 to 1865. Also, three battles were considered a draw. Though the North won in the end, the Confederacy won about the same number of major battles.
