EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -Confederate soldiers would be immediately paroled and allowed to return home. They would be given rations and in some cases transportation. They would not go to prison and would not be prosecuted for treason. Surrender would be the way to end the war quickly and with the least amount of bloodshed.

Concept note-2: -Explanations for Confederate defeat in the Civil War can be broken into two categories: some historians argue that the Confederacy collapsed largely because of social divisions within Southern society, while others emphasize the Union’s military defeat of Confederate armies.

Concept note-3: -One of the main weaknesses was their economy. They did not have factories like those in the North. They could not quickly make guns and other supplies that were needed. The South’s lack of a railroad system was another weakness.

Concept note-4: -Answer and Explanation: The Yankees were the Union soldiers that fought for the North in the Civil War. Yankee was what the Confederate soldiers of the South used to call their northern enemies, sometimes calling the common soldier Billy Yank.
