Concept note-1: -Answer and Explanation: Expansionism refers to spreading one’s country onto other lands, which may or may not be occupied. Imperialism refers to controlling other countries, which the empire may or may not directly settle. The American establishment of a continental empire was a mix of both.

Concept note-2: -Updated on March 02, 2022. Imperialism, sometimes called empire building, is the practice of a nation forcefully imposing its rule or authority over other nations.

Concept note-3: -Yet they are two words with totally different meanings. Colonialism is where one country physically exerts complete control over another country and Imperialism is formal or informal economic and political domination of one country over the other.

Concept note-4: -Colonialism is a term where a country conquers and rules over other regions. It means exploiting the resources of the conquered country for the benefit of the conqueror. Imperialism means creating an empire, expanding into the neighbouring regions and expanding its dominance far.
