EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -For the US to annex Japan within an Imperial system, would have been considered unpalatable to all the former colonial areas of the world and would have violated all of the avowed principles the US maintained it fought WWII for.

Concept note-2: -Japan was occupied and administered by the victorious Allies of World War II from the 1945 surrender of the Empire of Japan at the end of the war until the Treaty of San Francisco took effect in 1952.

Concept note-3: -After the WW2 surrender of Japan, why didn’t US take over the whole country and make it US soil? The US has never been interested in taking over any area that wasn’t sparsely populated. Their strategy was to settle the area with its own people and make it culturally American.

Concept note-4: -The military occupation of Japan by the Allied Powers lasted from 1945-1952. Supposedly a joint occupation by international powers, it was primarily carried out by U.S. forces under the command of General Douglas MacArthur.
