(B) Events that led to the Spanish-American War
(C) Military Uprisings Against United States Rule
(D) ** Growth of American Imperialism
EXPLANATIONS BELOW
Concept note-1: -The annexation of the Philippines expanded America’s global influence because they resorted to the same tactics as Spain had used on Cuba before, and the use of these “designated zones” with poor sanitation, starvation, and disease became popular.
Concept note-2: -Panama had been the bearer of imperialist tensions since the turn of the century solely because of its strategic location and possible economic advantages that such a location would yield. Panama is a country that occupies the isthmus dividing North and South America.
Concept note-3: -It was an act of imperialism. The United States quickly recognized the new “government” of Panama and dictated America’s rights to a canal in Panama. The American effort to build the canal was based on sound engineering. The design required construction of a dam that formed a large lake.
Concept note-4: -The Panama Canal is an example of imperialism because the United States used diplomatic and military power to support Panamanian independence from Colombia. It did so only to secure the rights to build the Panama Canal.
