Concept note-1: -Causes of War. The major causes of World War II were numerous. They include the impact of the Treaty of Versailles following WWI, the worldwide economic depression, failure of appeasement, the rise of militarism in Germany and Japan, and the failure of the League of Nations.

Concept note-2: -Militarism Great Britain and Germany both greatly increased their navies in this time period. Further, in Germany and Russia particularly, the military establishment began to have a greater influence on public policy. This increase in militarism helped push the countries involved into war.

Concept note-3: -The long-term causes were the militarism, alliance system, imperialism and nationalism-MAIN. The short-term cause was the fact that Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia for killing Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife.

Concept note-4: -SUMMARY: The assassination of Franz Ferdinand in 1914 s said to be the spark that’s started the war but there were many long term causes that led to the outbreak of the First World War. Historians argue they can be split into four categories: Imperialism; Nationalism; Militarism; and Alliances.
