EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -These alliances created a balance of power in Europe that some hoped would actually prevent war. Yet for many countries, the alliances made them feel like they had no choice but to join a growing international conflict.

Concept note-2: -For almost 100 years, from 1814/1815 until 1914, they were used to manage Great Power politics. Alliances could bolster cooperation among all or at least most of the Great Powers, as in the case of the Quadruple Alliance, which would form the basis of the European Pentarchy and the Concert of Europe.

Concept note-3: -Answer and Explanation: European nations formed alliances with other European nations during the early 1900s in order to prevent themselves from being attacked. The most notable example of this was the Triple Entente formed between the Untied Kingdom, France and Russia.
