Concept note-1: -Increasing nationalism led to an arms race. The policy of glorifying military power and keeping an army prepared for war was known as militarism.
Concept note-2: -Militarism can variously be understood as: an ideology glorifying war; the propensity to use force; military buildup; excessive influence (of either the institution of the military or of the military–industrial complex (MIC)); or the influence of military relations on social relations in general.
Concept note-3: -Militarism is the belief or the desire of a government or a people that a state should maintain a strong military capability and to use it aggressively to expand national interests and/or values.
Concept note-4: -Militarism is a belief or system where the military is exalted and its needs and considerations are given excessive importance or priority. Militarism was a powerful force in 19th and early 20th century Europe.
