Concept note-1: -The main aims of the organisation included disarmament, preventing war through collective security, settling disputes between countries through negotiation and diplomacy, and improving global welfare. The League lacked an armed force of its own to enforce any actions to achieve these aims.
Concept note-2: -Moral Disarmament aimed to encourage international cooperation and understanding to ensure that war between nations could no longer be possible.
Concept note-3: -The League of Nations (1920 – 1946) was the first intergovernmental organization established “to promote international cooperation and to achieve international peace and security”.
Concept note-4: -So, the League of Nations was successful in small ways in the 1920s, stopping small wars and improving lives. But it could not defend the Treaty of Versailles, it failed to get disarmament, and it could not persuade powerful countries to stop fighting.
