EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -The system of collective security has its roots in the League of Nations. Article 10 of the Covenant empowered the League’s Council to advise Member States on the means to be taken in case of aggression or threat of aggression.

Concept note-2: -Article 10. The Members of the League undertake to respect and preserve as against external aggression the territorial integrity and existing political independence of all Members of the League.

Concept note-3: -collective security, system by which states have attempted to prevent or stop wars. Under a collective security arrangement, an aggressor against any one state is considered an aggressor against all other states, which act together to repel the aggressor.

Concept note-4: -By establishing a bond of solidarity between Member States, the League is considered the first attempt to build a system of collective security. This principle relied on a simple idea: an aggressor against any Member State should be considered an aggressor against all the other Member States.

Concept note-5: -The idea behind the collective security system is that members of the organization advancing the collective security system (this time, the United Nations) are bound to spring to each other’s defense in case of attack. The basic principle is that an attack on one is an attack on all.
