What was the relationship between the League of Nations and the United Nations?

EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -The predecessor of the United Nations was the League of Nations, established in 1919, after World War I, under the Treaty of Versailles “to promote international cooperation and to achieve peace and security."

Concept note-2: -The League of Nations (1920 – 1946) was the first intergovernmental organization established “to promote international cooperation and to achieve international peace and security”. It is often referred to as the “predecessor” of the United Nations.

Concept note-3: -These organizations were designed to help member countries achieve a common goal. Two examples of these organizations were the League of Nations (1920-1946) and the United Nations (1945 – Present). A major goal of both of these organizations was to promote peace and prevent war through diplomacy.

Concept note-4: -Universality. United Nations: All great powers are joined in United Nations which count it as a universal organization. League of Nations: Many great powers (i.e. USA) are not joined in League of Nations which arised questions about universality about the organization.

Concept note-5: -The League was formally disbanded on April 19, 1946; its powers and functions had been transferred to the nascent United Nations.
