Concept note-1: -The main objective of the league was to maintain of peace in the world, to establish a peaceful global order and ensure collective security and disarmament, “to develop cooperation among nations and to guarantee them peace and security.
Concept note-2: -The League of Nations (1920 – 1946) was the first intergovernmental organization established “to promote international cooperation and to achieve international peace and security”.
Concept note-3: -The concept of collective security replaces the one of military alliances between States, which prevailed until World War II, to ensure the collective defense of a State by its allies in case of aggression by another State.
Concept note-4: -(i) To preserve peace and security in the world. (ii) To settle international conflicts in a peaceful manner. (iii) To promote just and honorable relations among the nations of the world. (iv) To force its members not to resort to war.
Concept note-5: -The League’s goals included disarmament, preventing war through collective security, settling disputes between countries through negotiation diplomacy and improving global welfare. The diplomatic philosophy behind the League represented a fundamental shift in thought from the preceding hundred years.
