EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -He wanted to make the world safe. He wanted to end war by making a fair peace. In 1918, Wilson published ‘Fourteen Points’ saying what he wanted. He said that he wanted disarmament, and a League of Nations (where countries could talk out their problems, without war).

Concept note-2: -The League of Nations was established at the end of World War I as an international peacekeeping organization. Although US President Woodrow Wilson was an enthusiastic proponent of the League, the United States did not officially join the League of Nations due to opposition from isolationists in Congress.

Concept note-3: -Most important for Wilson, the League would guarantee the territorial integrity and political independence of member states, authorize the League to take “any action…to safeguard the peace, ” establish procedures for arbitration, and create the mechanisms for economic and military sanctions.

Concept note-4: -Delegates from 32 countries met for the Versailles Conference (January 1919), but most decisions were made by ‘the Big Three’ – Georges Clemenceau, Prime Minister of France, Woodrow Wilson, President of America, and David Lloyd George, Prime Minister of Britain.

Concept note-5: -On his December 1918 trip to Europe, Woodrow Wilson gave speeches that “reaffirmed that the making of peace and the creation of a League of Nations must be accomplished as one single objective".
