Sanford B. Dole contributed to the expansion of the US by advocating the annexation of-

Concept note-1: -Dole, who advocated the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy and urged the United States to annex the islands, became the first territorial governor of Hawaii in 1900.

Concept note-2: -Sanford Dole, leader of the Committee of Safety and the president of the Provisional Government of Hawaii, refused to turn over power. Dole argued that the United States had no right to interfere in the internal affairs of Hawaii.

Concept note-3: -A Supreme Court judge of the former Kingdom of Hawaii, Sanford Ballard Dole helped establish the Republic of Hawaii and was its only president. He was instrumental in the annexation of the islands by the United States and became the first governor of the Territory of Hawaii.

Concept note-4: -O’Sullivan, who was an influential advocate for the Democratic Party. In an essay entitled “Annexation” published in the Democratic Review, O’Sullivan urged the United States to annex the Republic of Texas, because Texas desired this, and because it was America’s “manifest destiny to overspread the continent".

Concept note-5: -Spurred by the nationalism aroused by the Spanish-American War, the United States annexed Hawaii in 1898 at the urging of President William McKinley.
