Concept note-1: -Answer and Explanation: The greatest impact that the Panama Canal had was to shorten the length of ocean voyages between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Before the canal opened in 1914, ships had to sail around the southern tip of South America in order to sail from one ocean to the other.
