Concept note-1: -An international force of some 19, 000 troops was assembled, most of the soldiers coming from Japan and Russia but many also from Britain, the United States, France, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. On August 14, 1900, that force finally captured Beijing, relieving the foreigners and Christians besieged there since June 20.

Concept note-2: -On August 14, after fighting its way through northern China, an international force of approximately 20, 000 troops from eight nations (Austria-Hungary, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States) arrived to take Beijing and rescue the foreigners and Chinese Christians.

Concept note-3: -The official end of the rebellion occurred when Great Britain, the United States, and their allies forced the Qing dynasty to sign the Boxer Protocol. In this protocol, the Boxers were officially denounced and eradicated from China.

Concept note-4: -Plante. In 1900 a crisis erupted in China as the “Boxers” increased their resistance to foreign influence and presence. By the end of the nineteenth century, several countries had already established spheres of influence in China.
