Concept note-1: -By virtue of this legislation and the slogan “he kept us out of war, ” Wilson narrowly won re-election. But after the election Wilson concluded that America could not remain neutral in the World War. On April 2, 1917, he asked Congress for a declaration of war on Germany.

Concept note-2: -In 1917, Wilson could no longer refrain from American involvement in World War I due to the brutality of German warfare. America thus entered the war while Wilson was serving his second term as President. Wilson later established the League of Nations and won the Nobel Peace Prize for doing so.

Concept note-3: -US President Woodrow Wilson sought to maintain US neutrality but was ultimately unable to keep the United States out of the war, largely because of escalating German aggression. On May 7, 1915, the Germans sunk the British ocean liner RMS Lusitania, which had over a hundred Americans on board.

Concept note-4: -William McKinley was the 25th President of the United States, serving from March 4, 1897, until his assassination on September 14, 1901, after leading the nation to victory in the Spanish-American War and raising protective tariffs to promote American industry.

Concept note-5: -What were Woodrow Wilson’s accomplishments? Woodrow Wilson created the League of Nations after World War I (1914–18). He presided over ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, giving women the right to vote, and laws that prohibited child labour and that mandated an eight-hour workday for railroad workers.
