Concept note-1: -Japan surrendered to the Allies on 15 August, six days after the bombing of Nagasaki and the Soviet Union’s declaration of war against Japan. The Japanese government signed the instrument of surrender on 2 September, effectively ending the war. Manhattan Project : United Kingdom.
Concept note-2: -“The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended World War II.
Concept note-3: -Bombing of Tokyo, (March 9–10, 1945), firebombing raid (codenamed “Operation Meetinghouse”) by the United States on the capital of Japan during the final stages of World War II, often cited as one of the most destructive acts of war in history, more destructive than the bombing of Dresden, Hiroshima, or Nagasaki.
Concept note-4: -The two atomic bombs dropped on Japan in 1945 killed and maimed hundreds of thousands of people, and their effects are still being felt today. By the end of 1945, the bombing had killed an estimated 140, 000 people in Hiroshima, and a further 74, 000 in Nagasaki.
Concept note-5: -Truman did not seek to destroy Japanese culture or people; the goal was to destroy Japan’s ability to make war. So, on the morning of August 6, 1945, the American B-29 bomber, the Enola Gay, dropped the world’s first atom bomb over the city of Hiroshima.
