Concept note-1: -In 1918, President Woodrow Wilson outlined his “Fourteen Points” as a roadmap for post-World War I peace. Among his key proposals were open diplomacy, freedom of the seas, arms reduction, self-determination for ethnic groups, and the creation of a League of Nations to help prevent future conflicts.
Concept note-2: -The fourteenth point proposed what was to become the League of Nations to guarantee the “political independence and territorial integrity [of] great and small states alike.”
Concept note-3: -However, Wilson wanted to avoid the United States’ involvement in the long-standing European tensions between the great powers; if America was going to fight, he wanted to try to separate that participation in the war from nationalistic disputes or ambitions.
Concept note-4: -Wilson’s 14 Points were designed to undermine the Central Powers’ will to continue, and to inspire the Allies to victory. The 14 Points were broadcast throughout the world and were showered from rockets and shells behind the enemy’s lines.
Concept note-5: -Woodrow Wilson’s plan to prevent future wars was to bring together all the nations in a single organization called the ‘’League of Nations”. Wilson hoped that by changing from the traditional system of alliances to one of cooperative development, nations could solve their problems without resorting to warfare.
