Concept note-1: -On January 1, 1993, Czechoslovakia separated peacefully into two new countries, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Concept note-2: -Russian land yielded the new nations of Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
Concept note-3: -The Slovaks officially joined the state two days later in the town of Martin. A temporary constitution was adopted, and Tomáš Masaryk was declared president on 14 November. The Treaty of St. Germain, signed in September 1919, formally recognized the new republic.
