Concept note-1: -A state binds itself to a treaty by ratifying it. In many cases the state will be required to amend national legislation to comply with a treaty. The agreements laid down in a treaty are binding and must therefore be complied with.

Concept note-2: -Signing: agreement between national delegations Together they agree on the terms that will bind the signatory states. Once they reach agreement, the treaty will be signed, usually by the relevant ministers. By signing a treaty, a state expresses the intention to comply with the treaty.

Concept note-3: -treaty, a binding formal agreement, contract, or other written instrument that establishes obligations between two or more subjects of international law (primarily states and international organizations).

Concept note-4: -Treaties are agreements among and between nations. Treaties have been used to end wars, settle land disputes, and even estabilish new countries.
