Concept note-1: -The Russian Revolution was a period of political and social revolution that took place in the former Russian Empire, begun during the First World War. This period saw Russia abolish its monarchy and adopt a socialist form of government following two successive revolutions and a bloody civil war.
Concept note-2: -The Socialist Revolutionary Party, or the Party of Socialist-Revolutionaries (the SRs, , or Esers, , esery; Russian: -, ), was a major political party in late Imperial Russia, and both phases of the Russian Revolution and early Soviet Russia.
Concept note-3: -On 16 October 1917, Lenin persuaded the Petrograd Soviet and the Bolshevik Party to agree to a socialist seizure of power. A Military Revolutionary Committee was appointed by the Soviet under Leon Trotskii to organise the seizure. The date of the event was kept a secret. The uprising began on 24 October.
