EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -Respondents in every country surveyed were united against increasing costs to taxpayers or consumers. In the U.S., 15 percent of adults said climate change costs should be borne by consumers through higher prices. Eighteen percent said taxpayers should pay a lot of the cost.

Concept note-2: -First, rich nations are in a stronger position to contribute more towards healing the environment. Even if a fixed percentage is set as to how much each country will contribute, the richer nations will be the ones who will be paying more. The reason is plain and simple, rich nations have more money.

Concept note-3: -The developed countries have resources for advanced technologies to combat environmental pollution, the developing countries and the lower developed countries are ultimately the ones who have to face the consequences more.

Concept note-4: -“The loss and damage fund is a response to climate injustice and climate debt, owed by the rich countries to the poor, ” added Meena Raman, Head of Programmes at Third World Network.
