EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -Single-member plurality voting systems, often known as first past the post, is a simple system to use. The candidate who gets more votes than any of the other candidate(s) will be declared the winning candidate.

Concept note-2: -Anyone who can be a voter can also become a candidate in elections. The candidate should be a minimum of 25 years age. Every person who wishes to contest an election has to fill out a ‘nomination form’ and give some money as ‘security deposit’.

Concept note-3: -When unqualified, a “majority vote” is taken to mean more than half of the votes cast. If 30 members were at a meeting, but only 20 votes were cast, a majority vote would be 11 votes.

Concept note-4: -The mechanism by which people can choose their representatives at regular intervals and change them whenever they want to is called an election.
