Detailed explanation-1: -Place Slide on Stage. Specimens are usually mounted under a glass coverslip on a 1"x3” glass slide which is 1mm thick. The coverslip should face the objective lens. Spring loaded metal clips on the microscope stage are used to hold the slide in place.
Detailed explanation-2: -Place the slide on the Mechanical stage and fasten it with the stage clips. Look at the side of the microscope and turn the Adjustment knob until the lens is very close to, but not touching, the slide. Look through the eyepiece and move the Adjustment knob so that the lens lifts away from the slide.
Detailed explanation-3: -All microscopes are designed to include a stage where the specimen (usually mounted onto a glass slide) is placed for observation. Stages are often equipped with a mechanical device that holds the specimen slide in place and can smoothly translate the slide back and forth as well as from side to side.
Detailed explanation-4: -Before putting a slide on the stage-turn on the illumination & set the light to a comfortable level. IT IS NOT NECESSARY to use the light at maximum-to do so can be very tiring to the eyes. Rotate the 4X objective into position.
