Detailed explanation-1: -The palatine (or faucial) tonsils, commonly referred to as tonsils, are bundles of lymphatic tissue located in the lateral oropharynx. They sit in the isthmus of the fauces, bordered anteriorly by the palatoglossal arch and posteriorly by the palatopharyngeal arch .

Detailed explanation-2: -Tonsils. The palatine tonsils are lymphoid tissue on either side of the oropharynx between the palatopharyngeal and palatoglossal arch (Figure 6).

Detailed explanation-3: -The tonsils are lymph nodes in the back of the mouth and top of the throat. They help to filter out bacteria and other germs to prevent infection in the body. A bacterial or viral infection can cause tonsillitis. Strep throat is a common cause.
