GENERAL HISTOLOGY

This is a complex organ with many functions. It processes digestive material from the vessels returning blood from the intestines and has a role in either moving nutrients into the bloodstream and storing them in liver tissue. It also stores fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), produces blood plasma proteins (albumin), detoxifies harmful material, and produces bile.
