An autopsy revealed groups of enlarged, hyperemic lymphoid follicles in small bowel. The follicles protruded above the mucosal surface; their surface reminded brain’s gyri and sulci. The cut surface of follicles was succulent; with gray-red coloring. Microscopical investigation showed monocytes and histiocytes proliferation. Macrophages formed aggregates (typhoid granulomas).
