EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -World War I is often referred to as the first “total war.” People at the time used this term to describe the size and devastation of the war. It helped them understand how the roles of soldiers and civilians became difficult to separate.

Concept note-2: -T or F: A total war was a war that involved all the nations in the world? False! A total war only involved the countries involved in war.

Concept note-3: -World War I was known as the “war to end all wars” because of the great slaughter and destruction it caused. Unfortunately, the peace treaty that officially ended the conflict-the Treaty of Versailles of 1919-forced punitive terms on Germany that destabilized Europe and laid the groundwork for World War II.
