EXPLANATIONS BELOW
Concept note-1: -The Covenant of the League of Nations, which set out the terms of peace after World War I, was the first international political treaty signed by Australia and the first in which it was directly involved in negotiations. Australia was among 32 signatories to the treaty and a founding member of the League of Nations.
Concept note-2: -It began with four permanent members – Great Britain, France, Italy, and Japan – and four non-permanent members that were elected by the Assembly for a three-year term. The first non-permanent members were Belgium, Brazil, Greece, and Spain.
Concept note-3: -Germany was not an original member of the League of Nations when it was established in 1920. Germany joined in 1926 and remained a member until Adolf Hitler withdrew the country from the League in 1933.
Concept note-4: -Russia was expelled out of League of Nations for invading Finland and USA never joined the league, ironic because it was America who designed it and these were the two major countries who were not members of League of Nations.
Concept note-5: -Congress did not ratify the treaty, and the United States refused to take part in the League of Nations.
