EXPLANATIONS BELOW
Concept note-1: -Vladimir Lenin, their leader, rose to power and governed between 1917 and 1924. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation remains the second largest political party after United Russia.
Concept note-2: -Leninism is a way of thinking about how the communist party should be organized. It says it should be a dictatorship of the proletariat (the working class holds the power). It is thought to be one of the first steps towards socialism (where the workers own the factories, etc.).
Concept note-3: -Following the October Revolution, Vladimir Lenin became the head of the new government of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. It was known officially as the Council of People’s Commissars, effectively his cabinet.
Concept note-4: -Lenin was the leader of the radical socialist Bolshevik Party (later renamed the Communist Party), which seized power in the October phase of the Russian Revolution of 1917. After the revolution, Lenin headed the new Soviet government that formed in Russia. He became the leader of the USSR upon its founding in 1922.
